The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945 after the Second World War by 51 countries committed to maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations and promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights. 1. TASK 1: Use the UN site: http://www.un.org/en/ to complete these tasks. Click on "About the UN", located in top row. Then click "Overview". Answer the following: a. When was the UN created? b. How many countries belong?
c. Because of its Charter, name three types of issues the UN can handle.
2. TASK 2: Click UN CHARTER, then Click PREAMBLE... a. List the goals of the UN as stated in the preamble.
3. TASK 3: Click BACK, then Click MAIN ORGANS (on the top). a. List the 6 main bodies of the UN. b. Choose one and describe its purpose.
4. TASK 4: Go back to the Home Page. Summarize what The current UN priorities are.
5. TASK 5: Scroll down to the KEY ISSUES section. PICK AN ISSUE to examine further. Summarize it here.

Is it enforceable? f. Clickk on the Resources tab at the top.... Look at the "Related Websites" and find something of interest to you. Summarize the activity/event here.
