The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution was a time period known for massive changes in the social, political, and economic lives of people everywhere. When studying this time period, it is often highlighted by the inventions, changes in daily life, and working conditions for everyone. We will look at some of those today. This webquest will be slightly different from the others, in that, you will have choices to make as you work through the site. Choose something that interests YOU!

1. Task 1: We begin with CAUSES. 2. Task 2: Who: Here you will focus on Children or Women. Pick ONE! (Children or Women)

3. Task 3: Everyone do this... A Tragic Events. The Industrial Revolution presented many dangers for workers. View these sites to answer the following:

View the site. Read about this event. Summarize what happened. Take some time to look around. This is an interesting piece of American Industrial History. Be sure to look at the timeline, 9th Floor Model, pictures, and Eyewitness accounts, as well as the legacy (reforms made). (All found on this site)

View the site. Read about the event. Summarize what happened. Be sure to read the Eyewitness Account: How does he describe the action of the cavalry?
4. Task 4: Reforms: Pick ONE from Unions and ONE from Social Reform!
a. Unions: Riots and Strikes abound. Labor Unions form to see to the welfare of workers. a. Choose one of these strikes and tell us about what happened. b. Why were the workers striking? c. What was the result? Be sure to use evidence from the reading. (Link may not work...use cut and paste)
